A Not-So-Efficient Blog

You know, writing music is the most difficult thing in the world sometimes.Most people in a group would grab their instrument, and begin playing until they say "Hey, I've just played something slightly less generic than usual! I should bridge it to a common chord progression and turn it into a song!" However, I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to that respect.
I don't use my instrument when I write music. More often than not, it's in another room entirely. Actually, the only tools I use would be manuscript paper (blank sheet music for those of you not in the loop) and a pencil (because pen is permanent). This means that I have to then go back to my instrument, as well as all of the other instruments I've composed for, and play everything. It's never a problem of clash - it's one of plausibility; Some fingerings, as I've found, are simply impossible.
I work backwards as well, so that it's easier for me. First on the to-do list: Pick a key. Then, pick a progression, as well as cadence points. [...]
